East Coast Musical Family
There are twelve siblings in this family, yet each one has a special part of the sound. They have also re-created themselves several times.
In the 70s, the older siblings Geraldine, Genevieve, David, John Morris and Raylene were performing for local dances and special events around Cape Breton. As the older ones went to college, the younger ones took their places.
In 1992, they signed a big record deal with EMI, and a re-release of their LP, “Fare Thee Well Love”, placed The Rankin Family on the charts with a top 40 single and album sales exceeding half a million copies.
The Rankins have been awarded 15 East Coast Music Awards, 6 Junos, 4 Socan Awards, 3 Canadian Country Music Awards and 2 Big Country Music Awards.
